"There's No I In Team" is the ninth episode of Season 4.

Synopsis[]

After finally achieving success in getting Victoria to apply to several colleges as a backup plan for her ballet dreams, the reality sets in for Robert that his only child will soon be off on her own, leaving him with nobody but Jillian, whose health issues become more pressing by the minute. He insists that she travel with him to Western Massachusetts to celebrate Thanksgiving with his ex and her new wife, but she insists on returning to Cape Cod with her art student buddies. Meanwhile, when Vera suggests that Leo retain the Musical Theater 1 students while Maya takes on Jillian's classes during her absence, the couple bristles at the idea, stating that their success (and abnormally high student retention rate) stems from their work as a team. Ellen offers her services, and after seeing Ellen's impressive résumé, Vera is eager to take her on. Leo and Maya are thrilled to have another former classmate join the faculty, but soon realize that Vera's gain is their loss: they are suddenly without a nanny. They reluctantly agree to split the classes until they can either find a new nanny or Vera can find a replacement for Jillian. As a consolation, Leo and Maya invite Ellen to Thanksgiving dinner at Maya's parents' house, where all is well until Maya's trainwreck of an aunt recognizes Ellen from her favorite tabloid and hounds her with inappropriate questions.
